At the moment Cindy and I are sitting in Adam’s empty hospital room… It is just empty.. no life, no purpose..No Adam. He brings so much into our lives.
A short time ago we had to let him go back into the hands of the surgeons, currently he is in the operating room. He has such courage..
Last night, after Cindy and I had our discussion with Dr. Lee; Dr. Lee made a visit to Adam and explain to him, on a one-on-one bases, what the decisions were, the risks involved and what the surgery would entail. Adam was told about the different parts of his brain that were going to be removed and some of the risk’s involved. Dr. Lee explained the risks of removing the hippocampus and the risks of removing part of the temporal and frontal lobes. He explained about the SMA and possible stroke like symptoms he could experience. This caused Adam some concern as his right arm is already experiencing numbness and weakness.. His right hand is not working properly.. he has little strength in it. This was all seasoned with a dose of possible stroke like symptoms. Yet Adam has hope.. he has courage…he is so trusting. He told Dr. Lee “I trust you.”
Adam kept these concerns to himself because he knew that Cindy and I are very concerned. Several times Adam would reach out and hold my hand telling me that it was all going to be ok.. never once expressing his anxiety of the surgery in the SMA area. We only found out second hand from his favorite nurse, Lindsey
Now we are going to wait and pray… pray for Adam.. and pray for his doctors.
We asked Adam last night if he would give a recorded message for each and all of you. In his normal, humble way he did not think what he had to say was important, but he agreed to do so. Please forgive me as the audio is a little difficult to hear, you might need to turn up the volume a little….Here is Adam’s message.
Cindy giving Adam a hug the night before the surgery.. just before lights out.

Adam-
We just watched your video. The 3 kids, Luke, Emma, and Gavin and I sat there watching holding hands with tears in our eyes. You are such an amazing example of a beacon of light and a pillar of strength. You have such faith and we are so grateful to be able to virtually go through this journey with you. We love you and are so grateful for the great example you have always been. Emma said “It’s so nice to hear his voice”, because for days now we have been praying for you and to actually see and hear you was a comfort. We know the Lord is with you and we are praying for you. We love you all! Can’t wait to hear how surgery went. LOVE YOU!
Your faith and courage (all three of you) is amazing and uplifting. Our prayers and fasting are with you.
Scott
Adam,
Just watched your video, you are a strong young man full of courage. We are praying and fasting for you today. In a few hours I’ll be at the Temple with the other youth who are also praying for you also. We will hold you close in our hearts today. Looking forward to the next Temple trip when you can be with us!
Tim and I went to the Temple yesterday and especifically our prayers were for Adam. The Spirit was overwhelming from the minute we walked in the parking lot. The answer was “All will be well”. Our prayers and love to you and your family.
I am praying for Adam and his mom and dad as well as the rest of the family. God has given certain talents to Dr. Lee and I am sure he is using those God given talents with care on Adam right now. Adam is a brave young man and has a wonderful support group. Lindsey believes in his ability to kick this thing……and I do to! When Adam says there are no worries, I guess he is right. It is in God’s hands………..and the many wonderful professionals he has given those talents to. Adam’s faith is amazing! HE is an amazing young man!
Hey Adam,
Thanks so much for your faith buddy, I too have come to realize that our lives are in the Lord’s hands, and if we patiently trust in Him, as you have, in the end no matter what we have to endure in-between he has promised us that all these things will be for our good, for our growth, for our experience. These things are not only for our benefit, but I believe the attitude and way with which we face our challenges has a profound impact on those around us. People are always watching, and you are doing great Adam 🙂 Proud of you.
Love,
Chris
Adam we love you and we are praying for you. You touched our hearts the first time we met and you continue to do so.
What a tremendous demonstration of faith by both Adam and his family as he is literally laid on the altar today. You’re in our thoughts and prayers all day.
We are Fasting and Praying for your Family and Adam. One of the most valiant of warriors in The Lords Army!
We Love You All

A friend and I are fasting for Adam today. We are waiting on pins and needles for an update on his condition. Prayers are with him, your family, and the doctors and nurses taking care of him!
it did me so much good to hear your voice Adam- loved hearing your testimony and I agree with you- I’ve never been worried about the surgery either, always felt this peace that it was going to finally give you the relief you’ve needed for so long. When I first found out about your disorder (?) when you were still a little boy, I cried and cried because the outlook seemed so awful but you’ve shown us all that your determination to live a life fully mattered more than a doctor’s diagnosis. Again..you are proving to all of us that there is more that He has in store for you. I prayed all day for the doctors and for your mom and dad tho..my heart is with them because as a parent- no amount of faith can take away the fear of watching your child be taken from you and have their very life being put into someone else’s hands. So happy to hear that all is well so far and the prayers will continue to be offered for a long time now 🙂 Love you!
