My Moment in Eternity

It is 1am in the morning, Adam and I are both shaking with emotions as the tears flow freely.  I just had a moment in time with my son that will stay with me throughout the eternities. It was through the kindness of Tim and Glorimar that we watched this youtube video that they put together for Adam and posted on youtube.

Tears flowed from Adam’s eyes, as they did from mine while we watched in silence and listened to the attached music… We hugged each other and cried… we shook in each others arms… it was so wonderful and neither of us wanted to let go… I had a glimpse of the other side… just for a moment… and it was wonderful.  I can not explain the depth of love, compassion and goodness I felt as we were father and son again.  The real miracle is that Adam understood it all… Adam was also showing emotions, real emotions… this is the first time since being in the hospital that he has cried… he has not cried from the extreme pain or discomfort of his surgeries nor the pain of the swelling around his brain, but he was moved to crying now… no he was moved to weeping by this touching video and the kindness of others …His mind is grasping the new and forging ahead.  I am so humbled and so grateful for all your prayers and the miracle Heavenly Father has given us.

If you get a moment please take a look..  Thank you.  Mike

Wow this video made me cry. Adam you are so loved. We will continue to pray for you. We know some days will be harder then others. Just never give up we are all here cheering you on. In the end you will be stronger then ever. God bless you always.

  2. Wow…what an amazing video, amazing words that you have said that have inspired us all. I went to the Hong Kong temple today and thought of Adam, all over the world people are praying for you Adam…you have truly impacted our lives. Not only because of this surgery, but because of the sweet loving young man that you have always been. This whole physical trial is making you stronger and is showing your true colors. Beautiful colors of strength, patience, faith, and long suffering. Love you all so much! I had a good cry just now watching the video!

  3. As usual, as I just watched the Utube video of Adam, my face is wet with the tears of being inside you and understanding your perspective as parents. Absolutely beautiful and soul-filling with Christlike thoughts!! Thank you very much.

That is beautiful. It wraps up all your wonderful words so nicely. And I love the song! The video was an answer to my prayers about the lesson I should teach tomorrow. Hope you don’t mind me sharing Adam’s story and this video in class tomorrow! I think it will bring the Spirit very strongly 🙂

    Dear Hawkes Family,
For FHE tonight, our family watched the video the Heffners made. We have been following the blog and Adam’s story and progress and are truly amazed by his courage, and your courage. What incredible inspiration has come from all different sources! Our Heavenly Father is mindful of Adam and your family. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Our boys (who love snakes almost as much as Adam) have a gift for Adam that we’d like to bring by sometime. (Don’t worry….it’s not alive!)

    Love,
Ryan & Heather Munns and family

I have watched this beautiful video twice now, second time tonight with Amariah… needless to say we were both touched and weepy. So much emotion and inspiration flowing in the words from your parents. Adam, we are so glad to see you home and so humbled to be allowed to share in your life and this amazing- albeit scary at times- journey with you and your family… thank you. Thank you for your courage and light, and showing others how to face their challenges through your example. Day by day there will be more experiences and new terrain, but you’ve already cleared this mountain – so keep up the fight and just know the best is yet to come! ❤

I taught the lesson last Sunday in Relief Society and used Elder Nelson and Elder Rasbands talks from April conference. Adam’s story tied in so well to these talks, and I felt inspired to read your post “Unimproved Roads” and show this video during class. It turned out so nicely. And I’m pretty sure every tear in the room was wet by the end. I cried myself through the whole lesson. Thank you for your family’s great example of hope and gratitude. I love you guys!
