Adam, I wanted to reply yesterday but my computer was doing some weird things! I enjoyed the pictures of the surgery, but all I could think of was the pain you were going through. You are a choice Son of God and He is pleased with your performance thus far. Your name is on the Temple Prayer Roll for two weeks at a time and then I will submit it again as often as necessary. Remember, we each face trials in this existence to test our aptitude at being humble, courageous and standing firm in our beliefs. You are in my heart continually. I love watching your maturity grow. I was thinking today about the time when a friend and I came and stayed with you and your family for spring break. One night we stayed up late photo shopping pictures together and you thought it was hillarious (Well, we all did). I remember trying to “shhh” you because I didn’t want your parents to know we had you up so late. But what I remember the most about that night was that contagious laugh of yours and how much I loved hearing it. When you laughed, we all laughed. Now, as you are faced with this huge hurdle in you and your families lives, I pray you still find humor and joy in each other’s company. I feel blessed to have had many a good laughs with you in the past and look forward to more in the future. I love you Adam, your heart is more precious than gold. Good luck tomorrow.

Adam I love you man! I was blessed to have you as a roommate my first year of EFY! You helped strengthen my testimony and u reminded me to say my prayers. Which helped me find out that the gospel is true and that The church is true! I am always here for you! I will forever be in debt to you for helping me! I pray for u nightly and I just wish you the best! You will always be my first efy buddy and my eternal friend! I know the Lord had us roomed together for a reason! It’s your Uncle Miles. I am in Shanghai China today monitoring your progress daily from the other side of the world. Please hang in there & keep fighting.
I don’t know if you remember visiting me in the hospital when I had a stroke & also lost my speech for a period of time. You were about 8 or 9 years old & told me to “hang in there”. Well it’s my turn to tell you to “hang in there”, I will also add “keep on fighting”. I can understand your frustration trying to speak. It was very scary & frustrating not being able to speak to your love ones who want nothing more than to be able to talk with you. I encourage you to please, keep on fighting.
Adam, I think about you constantly and want you to know how much of an inspiration you are to friends and family. We love you so much & wish there was more we could do. Please keep your faith and continue to fight through these tough times. The Hawkes are a tough breed and I have faith you will battle through this rough period.
